Written and directed by Barris under his production company, Barris Films, the independent horror project blends Gothic imagery, supernatural mythology, and psychological terror to explore a woman whose name has become synonymous with obsession, brutality, and murder.
Emma Cat leads the cast as Elizabeth Bathory, portraying the infamous countess at the center of the film’s disturbing narrative. Joining her is Cara Clegg as Esther, a young woman abducted alongside her sisters and forced to endure Bathory’s violent world. Skye La Vie portrays Anna, Bathory’s mentor and creator, whose inability to control her creation introduces another dimension to the story.
The ensemble also features Patrick Bean as The Palatine, Fox as The Serpent, Mickey Roark as Jericho, Daisy Cisneros as Eden, and Tia Bean in the dual roles of a torture victim and Azrael. Together, the characters expand Barris’s interpretation beyond historical horror and into a darker supernatural mythology.
Behind the camera, the production embraces the craftsmanship of independent horror filmmaking. Blood effects, disturbing makeup imagery, Gothic environments, and carefully staged violence are central to the film’s aesthetic. The castle and dungeon settings, shadow-heavy cinematography, and theatrical presentation help establish an unsettling atmosphere that blurs the boundaries between history and folklore.
Rather than attempting a conventional historical retelling, Barris focuses on the psychological darkness surrounding Báthory’s legend and the mystery of how her story has endured for centuries.
Created independently with limited resources, BATHORY reflects the collaborative efforts of its cast and production crew, whose work brings the filmmaker’s ambitious horror vision to the screen.
The recently completed project is another example of original genre filmmaking emerging from Las Vegas’s independent creative community, where filmmakers continue to build productions through artistic collaboration and resourcefulness.
